The Immunization Project provides immunizations for children and women of child-bearing age
in Haiti. A coalition of the Ministere de la Sante Public et de la Population,
Pan American Health Organization and The Haiti Connection initiated a project
to provide protocols, information and resources for school administrators,
medical teams and other approved organizations to get vaccines for immunization
clinics.
The Plan
Two months prior to the clinic, school administrators or medical professionals
submit a request for vaccines to The Haiti Connection. The form is evaluated
and sent to Ministere de Sante (MSPP) and Pan American Health Organization
(PAHO/OPS) or other non-governmental organizations. MSPP obtains the vaccines,
supplies, and forms, and then provides the green Carte National de Vaccination.
For school clinics, administrators will contact the student’s care
provider. Immunizations will be available for students, their siblings
and women of child-bearing age in the home. If visiting medical teams
participate, we request they provide super insulated coolers with frozen
briquettes for the vaccines, supplies for the clinic and support.
During clinics, professional provide education on water/sanitation, nutrition
and prevention of infectious diseases. At the clinics conclusion, the
team leader completes forms to list the number and types of vaccines that
were administered, report commutable diseases and evaluate the effectiveness
of the clinic. They will return the completed forms, unused vaccines
and supplies. Phase I involves three clinics. At the competition of the
initial clinics, we will evaluate the efficacy of the project that will
become a model for immunization clinics. Please verify all information. The list organizations, their recommendations
and the resources found on this site are provided as a service. This does
